Olusegun Oke Library Lending Policy
1. Eligibility for Borrowing
- Library lending services are available to registered students, faculty, and staff of LAUTECH.
- External researchers and alumni may have limited borrowing privileges upon approval.
2. Borrowing Limits and Loan Periods

- Reference materials, journals, theses, and special collections are not available for loan.
3. Renewal Policy
- Books may be renewed once (or twice for academic staff) if there is no pending request from another user.
- Renewals can be done in person or online via the library’s portal.
4. Overdue Fines and Penalties
- Overdue books attract a fine of ₦50 per book per day for students and ₦100 per book per day for staff.
- Borrowers with overdue items or unpaid fines will have their borrowing privileges suspended.
5. Lost or Damaged Books
- Borrowers must replace lost or damaged books with the same or latest edition.
- If the book is unavailable, the borrower must pay the cost of the book plus a processing fee of ₦1,000.
6. Reserved and Short Loan Materials
- High-demand books may be placed on short loan (24-hour borrowing) to ensure wider access.
- Failure to return a short-loan book on time attracts a ₦200 fine per hour.
7. Special Borrowing Privileges
- Postgraduate students and academic staff can request extended loan periods for research purposes, subject to approval.
8. Interlibrary Loan Services
- Faculty and researchers may request books not available in Olusegun Oke Library through interlibrary loan agreements.
9. Suspension of Borrowing Rights
- Repeated violations of the lending policy, including unpaid fines, failure to return books, or damage to library materials, may result in suspension of borrowing privileges.
10. Library Clearance
- Graduating students, staff leaving the university, or retiring faculty must return all borrowed books and clear any outstanding fines before obtaining clearance.
