Olusegun Oke Library, LAUTECH Holds 2-Day Capacity Building Programme on AI and Digital Innovation

**Olusegun Oke Library, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, successfully held a two-day capacity building programme for Library staff from 21st–22nd September 2026 at the Olusegun Oke Library Conference Room.

The programme, themed “Transforming Library Services Through AI and Digital Innovation,” was designed to strengthen the capacity of Library staff to understand and apply emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), in modern library practice.

The training featured practical discussions and demonstrations on the application of AI and digital technologies to improve library services, enhance staff productivity, strengthen information discovery, and support the delivery of smarter and more accessible library services.

Focus Areas

The two-day programme covered key areas including:

• Library Automation and Contactless Services
• Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reference
• AI-Enabled Services and Discovery for Smarter Library Practice
• Digital innovation and its application to contemporary library services
• Practical approaches to integrating AI into library operations and service delivery

The programme featured Prof. Razak Olatunde ROM Kalilu, Vice-Chancellor, LAUTECH, as Chief Host, while Prof. Adefunke S. Ebijuwa, University Librarian, LAUTECH, served as Host. Sylvester I. Ebhonu, the Digital Librarian at Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), served as the facilitator.

Programme Highlights

The training provided an opportunity for Library staff to engage with emerging digital technologies and consider practical ways of applying Artificial Intelligence to library operations and user services.

The programme also included a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor and an opening ceremony, alongside interactive training sessions and practical learning activities.

Moving from Training to Implementation

The successful completion of the two-day programme marks an important step towards strengthening digital capacity and fostering innovation within Olusegun Oke Library.

The knowledge and skills acquired during the training are expected to support Library staff in exploring practical applications of Artificial Intelligence and other digital technologies in their daily work and in delivering more efficient, responsive and user-centred library services.

The Library looks forward to the next phase of the programme and the practical implementation of the knowledge gained, as staff continue to explore innovative approaches to transforming library services through technology.
